What Is a Slot?

Slot

Slot means a position or place in a group, series, sequence, etc. Also: a narrow notch, groove, or opening, as in a keyway in a machine, a slit for a coin in a vending machine, etc.

Organizing work events according to specific time slots helps your team members and departments to know each other’s availability better and keeps everyone up-to-date on all operations. For example, scheduling informal team meetings, consultations with managers, evaluation reviews and presentations in the same time slots each week helps promote open communication across teams and departments.

In ice hockey, the high slot is an unmarked area in front of an opposing goal that gives a defenseman the chance to rip a blistering one-timer shot into the net. This type of shot can travel at speeds over 100 miles per hour, requiring the player to react quickly to avoid being redirected by the goalie.

A slot is a container for child components and the parent component can pass data into this container when rendering it. When the template is rendered, the data is injected into the slot so it can be used by the child component.
