There are many different variations of poker, from one-handed games to multi-player affairs. The number of players is entirely up to you, but six to eight is the optimal number. The amount of money that is wagered by each player is known as the pot, and it can be won by having the highest-ranking poker hand or by making a bet that no other player calls. In every game of poker, there is a betting period in which players can place their chips in the pot. The first player, or “bluff” player, is the player with the privilege or obligation of making the first bet. The remaining players must place a minimum of one chip in the pot equal to the amount of the previous player’s contributions. If they are able to do this, they’re considered an active player. In some variants of the game, the player with the highest chip count wins.<\/p>\n
A straight is a group of five cards in order, including an ace. A high pair, such as aces, win if they’re adjacent to one another. Two fours of a kind with the same rank will break a tie, but not if they are adjacent to one another. Two straights with the same rank will split the pot.
