Poker is a card game in which players place chips (representing money) into a pot and then compete to make the best five-card hand using their own two cards and the community cards. Depending on the rules of the variant being played, one player (designated by the button) has the privilege or obligation to place the first bet. During a tournament, you should avoid making bets that risk more than your total chip amount unless they have a positive expected value.
