Poker is a type of card game in which players compete against each other to earn chips by making the best possible hand. It is played in poker clubs, casinos and private homes. The game is played with cards, usually between a group of 8 to 9 players.<\/p>\n
The players begin the game by placing a small bet or ante in the pot. They must then raise or fold their hand. If a player folds, they do not compete for the pot. However, if they do not fold, they are obligated to place the same amount of chips in the pot.<\/p>\n
After the cards have been dealt, the dealer shuffles the deck. Each player receives a facedown card and the dealer deals a faceup card to each other.<\/p>\n
In some games, the player with the highest card by suit wins an odd chip. This is called the kicker.<\/p>\n
Some versions of the game also feature forced bets. These are either blind bets or ante bets. A player may only bet or raise if he has the best hand. Similarly, a player may only place a bet in a forced bet if he is attempting to bluff the other players.<\/p>\n
